I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil. It all started when my parents showed me my very first animated film, An American Tail. I instantly began drawing stick figure mice, and moved on to other, more complicated things from there.
I very much enjoy drawing cartoons, especially animals. Most of my art is done digitally. My sketches are typically done in mechanical pencil and cleaned up in ballpoint pen. I do most of my flat colors, touch-ups, and formatting in Adobe Photoshop CS while the painting of my work (backgrounds, values, etc.) is done in Corel Painter 9.5.
I graduated with a BFA as an Illustration major at Laguna College of Art and Design in May of 2008. My career interests include cartoon consumer product illustration, concept art, book illustration, character design, and general freelance illustration.
When not doing art, I enjoy reading, writing, spending time with my dog (a Pomeranian named Sambu), and listening to music. My favorite music includes Hans Zimmer, Simple Minds, Rogue Wave, Broken Social Scene, classic rock, Celtic music, and film and television scores.
I'm also a very big fan of science fiction, in both film and literature and it tends to inspire my art. Some of my favorite science fiction titles include Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Jurassic Park (book and film), The Fifth Element, Firefly, the Dune novels, and the writings of Douglas Adams.
My other interests include House MD, The Venture Brothers, animated films (particularly classic Disney and Don Bluth), Scrubs, oceanography, paleontology, evolutionary biology, critical reasoning, video games, and comic books.
